Some leave after one bad result. Others end a project that had already lost its shape. But all share the same symptom: a losing streak of five or six matches turns into a crisis terminal. In Argentine football, patience is often announced on Sunday and disappears by Wednesday.
If the Clausura and Apertura are added together, the First Division has already recorded 27 coaches who left their posts during the current football year. This includes Marcelo Gallardo's second spell at River, Eduardo Domínguez's departure from Estudiantes, Carlos Tevez's resignation at Talleres, and Gustavo Quinteros's exit from Independiente. Also left were Gustavo Costas at Racing, Claudio Ubeda at Boca, Rubén Insúa at Barracas Central, and Favio Orsi and Sergio Gómez at Newell's.
El problema no es solamente el resultado
The challenge for clubs is not just to avoid losing. It is to offer coaches enough time and support to build a competitive project. Otherwise, every crisis becomes a fire sale of technical staff, and every new coach starts with a team whose foundations have already been shaken.
Tigre is the latest example. It may not be the last. The league has become a revolving door, with projects measured in matches rather than seasons. The question is not only how high the number of coaches who leave can go, but whether clubs are willing to give continuity a chance. For now, let us see: the numbers suggest that the door will keep turning.
